Omeo FAQ
The detail people most often ask about the Omeo. If your question is not here, call 0490 756 659 or email info@keytoindependence.com.au and ask us directly.
Using the Omeo
How do you steer an Omeo?
By balance rather than by hand. It uses Active Seat Control — you lean, it goes — which leaves your hands free for whatever you were already doing.
How fast does it go?
In Australia the Omeo is factory set to 10km/h to meet local speed restrictions. The machine is adjustable up to 20km/h at the factory, but 10km/h is what you get here. Rules differ between areas, so please check what applies where you ride.
How far will it go on a charge?
Up to 50km on the standard set-up. Fitting the off-road kit shortens that.
Is there a weight limit?
Yes. The Omeo is rated for riders between 40kg and 110kg. Omeo Technology states that there is no warranty for riders over 110kg, so it is worth being straight about this before you order.
Will it fit through my doorways?
In the standard set-up it is 650mm wide, which suits most doorways. With the off-road kit fitted it goes out to 865mm, which will not pass through a standard doorway. We measure your doorways at the trial so there are no surprises.
What sort of ground can it handle?
It turns on the spot — a 0 degree turning circle — and it will take you across sand and gravel with ease. It handles a 20 to 25 degree incline and about a 30 degree decline where there is enough traction.
Trials, delivery and support
Can I try one before I decide?
Yes. A free trial is part of how we work. Free trials are available within 50km of Ballarat — we bring the machine to you, take measurements, and let you use it on your own ground before anything is decided. Further afield we can still arrange a trial for an additional fee. Your occupational therapist is welcome to be there.
Where do you deliver?
Victoria wide. Delivery is free within 150km; beyond that we will quote the cost before you commit.
Do you work with NDIS participants?
Yes. We are an equipment supplier, not a registered NDIS provider, and we work alongside the occupational therapists and support coordinators who are arranging equipment for their clients. Our products also suit Aged Care, Workcover and TAC clients.
Can I hire an Omeo?
Yes. You can hire to try a machine over a longer period, or to cover the wait while your own machine is on order, so you are not left without something to get around on. Delivery charges apply on hire machines.
Is there a cheaper way in?
We carry certified pre-loved Omeos with updated safety and current software — low kilometres, checked over and ready to go.
What support do I get after delivery?
Delivery includes handover training so you are confident using the machine before we leave. After that you have ongoing on-call local support on 0490 756 659 — you speak to us, not a call centre.
What warranty comes with it?
Omeo Technology publishes the warranty, the purchase agreement and the privacy policy that come with every machine. These terms are in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which cannot be excluded. We will confirm the terms that apply to your order in writing before you buy.
